The Society of Wood Engravers 76th Annual Exhibition

Three of Abigail Rorer’s engravings have been accepted into the UK Society’s Annual exhibition which is traveling to galleries throughout the UK from September 12, 2013 until the summer of 2014. For venues and images from the show go to www.woodengravers.co.uk.

An Award

The Lone Oak Press book King of the Alps was awarded the Birgit Skiold Memorial Trust Award at the London Art Book Fair held at the Whitechapel Gallery, London, on September 13-15, 2013. This is a purchase prize award and the book goes into the National Art Library at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

Skunk Cabbage at the Hunt

Abigail Rorer’s engraving Skunk Cabbage has been selected to be included in the 14th International Exhibition of Botanical Art & Illustration held at the Hunt Institute of Botanical Documentation, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA. The exhibit opens with a preview reception September 26, 2013 from 6–8pm, with the exhibit on display through December 19, 2013.

Wood Engraver’s Network Exhibition

Abigail Rorer has three engravings included in the Wood Engraver’s Network Relief Engraving Exhibition which will be on exhibit at the School of Visual Concepts In Seattle, WA from March 8 to June 5, 2013, then on to the Randolph County Community Arts Center in Elkins, WV from July 1 to August 22, 2013.

Mesembs: The Titanopsis Group

The Little Sphaeroid Press will be publishing a series of eight books covering all the plants in the succulent plant family Mesembryanthemum, written by Steven Hammer. Abigail Rorer has been commissioned to do engravings for all eight covers. The first book on the Titanopsis group came out in March 2013.

Walden Woods Award

In July 2012, Abigail was commissioned to do an engraving of the first Walden Woods Project Global Environmental Leadership Award. The recipient of the bronze statue by Mark Hopkins was President Bill Clinton and four environmental leaders from around the country received the framed engraving of the statue.

February Book Fair in California

Abigail Rorer and The Lone Oak Press will be exhibiting at the fourth Codex Book Fair from February 10–13, 2013, in Berkeley, CA.

Fine & Dirty: Contemporary Letterpress Art
