Reginald Farrer was a botanist with strong opinions about the plants he liked and disliked. A previous book from The Lone Oak Press, Mimpish Squinnies, winner of the Gregynog Prize, focused on 14 plants that Farrer deemed worthless. This book will focus on one of the plants that he loved, Eritrichium nanum, the “King of the Alps”. It follows his quest to see the plant in habitat and his unique way of describing the plant and his regard for it. The book will contain six full-page multi-block color engravings and one half-page multi-block color engraving by Abigail Rorer. The typography and printing of the text is by Michael Russem and the binding will be done by Daniel Gehnrich. Printed in an edition of 60 copies with 55 for sale—ten deluxe and 45 regular copies. The book will be published in 2011. Would you like to be notified when the book is published? Send us an e-mail.
